Happy 100 Smart Voter Articles!
Over the course of 12 months, 100 articles of Smart Voter have explored everything from messages to share to encourage voting to news literacy quizzes to how to understand referendums on the ballot.
The year I spent writing and editing Smart Voter has been one of the best of my life. I’ve learned so much about our government, the role of media in mobilizing voters, how to collaborate with grassroots organizations, and the best ways to engage citizens. Currently, I spend several hours each week on Smart Voter content. I’ve decided to transition to less frequent articles as I go to college. As some of you know, I’m moving to North Carolina next year and will attend UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University as a Robertson Scholar. There, I plan on joining several civic groups and voting rights organizations. I’m excited to bring Smart Voter with me and eager to see how our community evolves.
I cannot thank each of you enough for making the year as meaningful as it has been. I appreciate your support for my work, but more importantly your support for democracy.
